My daughter is 15 and has had this almost every 3 months and we keep cutting it at the sides and it gets better but it keeps coming back. Can this be fixed once and for all? Thanks , Jo

Dear Jo, Yes there is a permanent procedure to correct the ingrown toenail. It is a common problem with teenagers during the time of their adult nails growing through. Please call or book online with Podiatrist Michelle Champlin for assessment and treatment. Best wishes, Dubai Podiatry Centre

My son also gets this and some of his friends have got it as they can’t play rugby when it gets really bad. It’s making his shoes smell really bad and his socks are bloody when he gets home but he’s nervous to get something done about it. Will it hurt him cure it? Thank you, Sarah

Dear Sarah, no the procedure does not hurt. The infection is causing the bacteria to spread in his socks and shoes and this causes a bad odour. teenagers are commonly affected by this when their adult nail size starts to grow. Please call or book online with Podiatrist Michelle Champlin for assessment and treatment. Best wishes, Dubai Podiatry Centre

Dear Vineet, usually all insurance companies cover this procedure but you should check with your insurer to make sure Podiatry is covered or you can come and ‘pay and claim’ – the Podiatrist will give you a medical report to check your insurance if required. Call us or book online with Podiatrist Michelle Champlin. Best wishes, Dubai Podiatry Centre

I’m core rly on a cruise and getting in to Dubai on Tuesday. My right big toe is very painful and infected. The doctor on the cruise has given antibiotics but cannot perform the nail cutting. Can I make an appointment for around 2pm and before 5pm? Thanks very much. Agnes
