Knee Pain from the Foot

December 4, 2017 by Dubai Podiatry Centre2

The short leg always has knee pain on the inside. During high levels of activity the longer knee will pain on the outside and give Iliotibial Band tightness. The shorter leg will have a lower foot arch and the inside of the shorter leg knee takes the strain. An orthotic that is specific for this condition will align the pelvis instantly. Left and right orthotic will be very different from each other.

This might explain my nagging ITB after 20km + running. I’d like a full assessment to fix my problem. I keep having physio every 2 months and it keeps coming back. It’s getting me down now and stopping me training as I have to rest it according to my physio. I stretch and use the foam rolller and use deep heat and take Brufen 400 and then it gets better. But it keeps coming back and it’s driving me crazy. I don’t think my physio has thought about this and maybe fixing my alignment might stop my itb coming back….

Dear Craig, sorry to hear your training is problematic. Podiatrist biomechanics assessment is advised. Please bring your running shoes and a pair of shorts with you to your appointment for the Podiatrist to see your legs well. Best wishes, Dubai Podiatry Centre
