Corrective and Accomodative Orthotic

‏This is a very easy way to spot the differences between a corrective orthotic and an accommodative orthotic.

هذه طريقة سهلة للغاية لاكتشاف الفروقات بين التقويم التصحيحي والتقويم التكيُّفي

‏Accomodative means it accommodates the shape of the foot and gives support to the foot.

التكيّفي يعني أنه يتلاءم مع شكل القدم ويوفر لها الدعم

‏The corrective orthotic means it corrects and changes the shape of the foot.

التقويم التصحيحي يعني أنه يصحح ويغير شكل القدم

‏So, a corrective orthotic is used when we can easily manipulate the patient’s ankle and foot back to their natural position.

لذلك يتم استخدام تقويم العظام التصحيحي عندما يكون بإمكاننا معالجة كاحل المريض وقدمه وإرجاعهما إلى وضعهما الطبيعي

 

‏For example, if the patient is flat footed when they stand but their ankle becomes straight and their arch lifts up when they are sitting then we would use a corrective orthotic.

على سبيل المثال، إذا كانت قدم المريض مسطحة عند الوقوف ولكن كاحله يصبح مستقيمًا ويرتفع قوسه عند الجلوس، فسنستخدم تقويم العظام التصحيحي

‏This is because we are not changing the original and natural shape of the feet.

  هذا لأننا لا نغير الشكل الأصلي والطبيعي للقدم

‏This is called an accommodative orthotic and it will accommodate the shape of the foot and support it.

  وهذا ما يسمّى بالتقويم التكيّفي والذي يتلاءم مع شكل القدم ويدعمها

‏It will not try to lift the arch or straighten the ankle.

  لن يقوم هذا التقويم برفع القوس أو محاذاة الكاحل

‏In this case we would use an accommodative orthotic if it was not possible to attempt to straighten the ankle or lift the arch.

في هذه الحالة، سنستخدم تقويم العظام التكيّفي إذا لم يكن بالإمكان محاذاة الكاحل أو رفع القوس

‏Reasons could be due to arthritis, ankle restriction, hip or knee restrictions where we do not need to align it, only support.

قد تكون الأسباب التهاب المفاصل أو تقييد الكاحل أو قيود الورك أو الركبة حيث لا نحتاج إلى محاذاتها، إنّما فقط الى دعمها

‏Finally, this one is where we correct the position of the foot.

       أخيرًا، هذا هو المكان الذي نصحح فيه موضع القدم

‏Both are used often in the clinic and it just depends which one the patient needs, either a corrective or an accommodative orthotic.

يستخدم كلاهما في كثير من الأحيان في العيادة ويعتمد اختيار أحدهما  على حاجة المريض، فإما تقويم تصحيحي أو تكيّفي
